Widely celebrated and veritable chess legend Magnus Carlsen has launched a new application ‘Take Take Take’ which aims to provide a more chess oriented approach with streaming. The main purpose of the app is to follow live tournaments, games and players whilst also providing commentary from even Carlsen himself. In his own words: “It will be a chiller vibe”. His previous project, Play Magnus, has garnered over a million downloads on the google play store alone.
Launched in early 2023 under the name Fantasy Chess, Take Take Take has received funding from A-list investors, chess enthusiasts and Breakthrough Initiatives fund, whose founders include Sergey Brin, Mark Zuckerberg, and Yuri Milner. The future of this application is uncertain, but it is part of the wider trend to transform chess into a spectator sport.
The application has so far amassed over 100 thousand downloads on the google play store and 48 reviews on the app store. It has widely been touted as a ‘revolutionary’ new way of experiencing chess, and has been compared to a lighter version of Сhessbase.
